Thanks for the offer! Amherst College’s current financial aid program is a need-based program that helps international students in financial straits. Applicants are eligible to apply for the study grant for the academic year 2023/24. The financial needs of accepted students will be evaluated after they are accepted. As a result, they are eligible for financial aid packages proportionate to their demonstrated financial need. A scholarship or grant can consist of self-help (employment) as well as gift aid, so the term “aid package” is sometimes used to describe the total amount received.
Getting into Amherst College: How to Apply
THE FIRST STEP IS TO ESTABLISH YOUR CREDENTIALS FOR AMHERST ONLINE APPLICATION:
- Password Reset at Amherst College can be done online.
- Then, click “submit” and enter your e-mail address.
- In your e-mail, you will find your username and a link to the College’s password reset system. Click the link to view your Amherst username (make note of it!) and create an Amherst password.
- On the “Change Password” screen, enter the temporary password you received by email. Time is of the essence with this password, so you need to complete it promptly.
- Ensure that your new password is strong and meets the College’s password requirements.
- Login credentials for the Admission Application Status Portal (ASP) and Financial Aid Portal (FAP) will be the same.

- You can access the Financial Aid Portal by logging into your Application Status Portal and clicking on the Financial Aid Portal button, or by visiting Amherst.edu/go/faportal.
The third step is to review the financial aid application checklist
- To view a document’s current status, click the “Documents & Messages” link.
IF ANY APPLICATION MATERIALS ARE MISSING, PLEASE SUBMIT THEM:
- Links to more information or to the form are shown in blue.
- Any missing materials should be submitted as soon as possible.
- First-year and transfer applicants will receive financial aid awards online when their applications are complete.

You will receive emails regarding the status of your admission and financial aid applications throughout the admission season. Your email address should be accurate, reliable, and one you monitor regularly. (We do not send emails to parents!) When you change your email address, please notify us promptly. Use your Admission Status Portal to change your applicant’s contact information.
